OCC Lip Tar: Authentic

Swatches & Review

After Sephora came out with Pro's Pick V2.0, they have not come out with V3.0! I thought it was quite fast because I was expecting the next set to come out around the Holidays. Authentic is one of the shades in the V3.0 set, which was one that I was most excited about because it has a metallic finish, which is not like all the previous lip tars that I have reviewed.

Authentic is described as a copper metallic

In the tube, it looks like it would be a very rusty brown shade. When applied onto my lips, it looks more of a light red-rusty copper brown shade.

When applying these, I used a very little amount because a little goes a long way. I think if you would want the color to be more brown, adding a bit more may make it look a bit darker. I wore this for about six hours yesterday with slight fading. However, I felt that by the 2nd hour, this felt incredibly drying. I tested this out without the clear base, which is probably why, so I recommend using the clear lip tar or a lip balm underneath. I really like this shade because it has a metallic finish to it, which does not make my lips look as dry as the ones without the metallic finish because it is super shiny when worn outdoors.

This retails for $18 individually and the Pro's Pick Lip Tar Set v3.0 retails for $49. They can be purchased on Sephora.com (Non-affiliated).

What do you think about Authentic? Have you tried the newer lip tars with the metallic finish?

OCC Lip Tar: Hoochie

Swatches & Review

Since my last review on OCC Lip Tar's, I have purchased a lot more since Sephora started carrying the brand & with some coming in sets. Recently, OCC Lip Tar has come out with the Pro's Pick Lip Tar Set V.2, which has Hoochie in there & that is the first shade that I have tried so far in the set.

Hoochie is described as a Vibrant Magenta.

In the tube, it looks like a Barney pink/purple, but once applied on the lips, it is more of a purple.

For the first lip picture, I took it in direct sunlight. The other two were taken indoor, with the middle one being in front of the window.

As you can see, the color when worn outdoors look more warm than when indoors. Compared to the description of it being magenta, I would say that it does not look very magenta. To me, this look more of a purple than pink, however, I do agree that it is very vibrant. Although it does not seem to fit the description, I love this shade! I have been looking for a nice purple shade and most of the purple lip colors I have been trying leans more pink and this is absolutely perfect for me! Like all the previous lip tars I have reviewed, these dry semi-matte and can be drying on the lips after a while. I like putting glosses over these for a bit of a "pop" to it. The staying time on this was better than a few previous lip tars that I have tried. It did not become patchy after a while, but it stayed vibrant for a good 4 hours before it started to fade.

This retails individually for $18 (the price has gone up again) & can be purchased at Sephora.com, select Sephora locations & OCCMakeup.com.
If you are interested in the Pro's Pick Lip Tar Set V.2, it retails for $49 & can be purchased at Sephora.com and select Sephora locations.

What do you think about Hoochie? What is your favorite Lip Tar?

Here is a picture of me wearing the shade & one w/ my boyfriend :)

Haul

So many makeup!

These were most of the packages that came in for me this week. Last week was the VIB sale and my boyfriend purchased a lot of items for me in stores! (most of them are on instagram) & these are the items that I have purchased for myself
From the Sephora VIB Sale, I ordered Draw the Line, bareMineral's Moxie Cool as ice set, Sephora for Izak twin lipstick, and Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetic's Pro's Pick Lip Tar set.
In another order, I ordered lip products from Urban Decay
My ipsy bag came
Today, I went to Nordstrom Rack and purchased Urban Decay's Deluxe Shadow box. It was about $19! Which is a deal since it retails for $38 and I have heard incredible things about their deluxe eyeshadows. I wonder if they're discontinuing some of their older palettes since I have seen the Skull Shadow Box and the Wallpaper Box at Nordstrom Rack's as well. If you're interested in the Deluxe Shadow Box, you should check your local Nordstrom Rack!

Have you hauled anything this week? I love packages! :)

Mixing Lip Tars

Swatches

Since I was done with trying all of my Lip Tars, I decided to mix one of them to use to see how it would turn out. The two lip tars I mixed were NSFW and Interlace.
I have a lot of plastic tops saved from dog food, Pringles, and whatever comes with plastic lids because I use them to mix nail art paint as well, so I just used one of those for the lip tars since it will wipe off easily.
Before mixing, I put one small dot of NSFW on the lid and then I put two dots on Interlace since I wanted the NSFW to be lighter than it usually is. After mixing, it came out to be a berry color, which looks kind of like a berry lavender? It's pink-ish with a bit of purple to it, which looked kind of nice since I do not have anything like this in my lip stash. It ended up not looking like any of the original shades anymore, but I thought it was quite fun so I'm excited to mix more! Although NSFW itself does not stay on me for long & gets patchy pretty quickly, this combination of these two lasted on my lips for a good 6 hours! It did fade a bit throughout the day, but the stain stayed on my lips and did not get patchy at all, which was very surprising. I'm definitely excited to mix more of my Lip Tars!

What do you think of this combination of Interlace and NSFW? Do you have any combinations you like to mix with for your Lip Tars? :)

OCC Lip Tar: Interlace

Swatches & Review

I have previously reviewed Hush, Melange, NSFW, & Memento. Interlace is the last OCC Lip Tar that I own (& of course, I may buy more so this may not be the last!).
Interlace is described as a subtle neutral peach.
Looking at the tube, I thought it would be a beige color. When I swatched it on my arm, it did look peachy like it wad described, but once I put it on my lips, it was a very pale beige-ish pink color. I saw other swatches of it before & it was definitely more peach looking, but for some reason, mine is definitely lighter than the swatches I have seen online. I thought Hush was pale, but this is a lot more pale than Hush is on me. Since my skin overall is medium, it washes out my skintone so I am not too big on this shade being worn alone. However, I think this would be a great shade to mix with another shade of Lip Tar. Like all the previous lip tars I have reviewed, these dry semi-matte and can be drying on the lips after a while. I like putting glosses over these for a bit of a "pop" to it.

What do you think of all the lip tars I have reviewed? Which one do you like best? :)

Simple Look

For a while now, I feel like I love using the colors brown and pink as an eyeshadow. My boyfriend always calls me weird because I am not a big fan of pink, yet I have a bunch of pink things (the keyboard cover for my MacBook is pink as well) lol! Now that the sun is slowly going away for fall & into the winter, I should stop using pink, but I really like this!
Eyes: Urban Decay: Woodstock
Urban Decay: Secret Service
theBalm: Mary Lou-Manizer
Bobbi Brown: Gel Liner
Urban Decay: El Dorado 24/7 Pencil Liner (lower lash)
Face: Urban Decay: NAKED Skin Foundation 6.0
Tarte: Amazonian Clay Blush Achiote
Lips: OCC: Memento Lip Tar

I did not curl my lashes or use mascara because my lashes always goes back to being stick straight after a while so I usually skip that step.

What has been your favorite eye combo lately? :)

Are you a Sephora VIB?

Every year, Sephora has a weekend for their VIBs to shop with an additional 20% off. This is usually after their friends and family sale. Two weeks ago, I talked to store director, and they have told me the friends and family sale begins on the 18th of October. Like all associates says, it's only limited to friends and family of current Sephora employees. However Sephora always ends up giving a code to use online for 20% off your purchase. With that in mind, VIBs have a special weekend just for them after the F&F as well. This year, it falls on November 8th, which is a month from now! The sale from what I know is usually for 5 days.

Here are some of my wishlist items:
OCC: Pro's Pick Lip Tar Set $49
Buxom: Time to Shine $29
Disney Cinderella: Storylook Palette $55
Disney Cinderella: Moonlit Lipstick Set $25

What's on your list? Whether it's for the F&F sale, or the VIB sale? :)

OCC Lip Tar: Hush

Swatches & Review
I have previously reviewed Melange, NSFW, & Memento. This week, I will be reviewing Hush.
Hush is described as a pale bridal pink. On me, it looks like a pale neutral peachy-pink.
When I looked at the tube, I thought that this color would be a bit more orange because it looks like that in the tube, but it only has a slight hint of a peachy tone to it. Personally, this is not a shade that I would go for since this is very pale on me, so I might consider mixing this with another shade. I think this shade would be very pretty on people with a lighter skin-tone then mine. When I look at myself with this on, it makes me look like I'm sick, but it is just personal preference. Like the other lip tars, this dries semi-matte and can be drying to the lips after a while. I felt like this shade gets patchy on the lips after a while because after about an hour of wearing it, the shade on my lips became uneven and patchy. I probably would not use this by itself, but I think this will definitely be a great color to tone other colors down, such as NSFW, or if you have any other shade of lip tars.

OCC Lip Tar: Melange

Swatches & Review
The next Lip Tar I will review is Melange from the set that I have purchased.

Melange is a terracotta color. On me, Melange looks like a pale orange.
Like the other two I have reviewed, this dried semi-matte. This is not a lip-gloss, but more like a liquid lipstick. I only used a tiny bead to fill my whole lips. It is a shade I have not worn before, but it is something I would wear.
Overall, this lasted about 5 hours on me, but it did fade after a while. The wear on this is a lot better than NSFW. I find that lip tars tend to be drying on the lips so it would be helpful if you put on some chapstick a while before applying them. This color is interesting to me, considering I do not usually wear shades that are in other colors that for normal lip colors. I think I will try to mix this with the other shades I have to see what I can come up with! lol :)

OCC Lip Tar: NSFW

Swatches & Review
After trying Memento, I decided to try NSFW next. I usually stay away from reds, but I have been using them a lot lately so I wanted to see how this red will look on me.

NSFW is a dark blood red. At first, I thought it would be something out of my comfort zone, but it was not too bad. When I showed my boyfriend, he said I looked like I just bit somebody since my lips were bloody red, but it was not bad at all! I used a tiny dot and it was enough for me to apply it for my whole lips.
Like Memento, it dried semi-matte. If you want it to be glossy, you can put a clear gloss over it. If you do not want it to be too dark, you can put a light colored gloss over it so the red will not seem as dramatic.Overall, I like this color for my lips. What I do not like about this is the wear time. Unlike Memento, which lasted me about 6 hours, this only lasted on me for 2 hours. After two hours, NSFW looked like it was getting patchy and uneven on my lips. It basically was not even much of a red anymore, but a light red/bright pink. It was also drying so I recommend using a lip balm while using this. Although the wear time was disappointing, I really liked the color. Maybe next time, I'll try to mix this with another color and see how it goes! Have a great weekend :)

OCC Lip Tar: Memento

Swatches & Review
I have been wanting to try OCC Lip Tars for a while and after resisting the beauty.com neutral set for so long, I decided to just get it so I can stop thinking about it! After getting it, the first one I tried was Memento. Memento looked like it would be a nice shade of pink because it does not seem too light, and it does not seem too dark. I also decided to try it because when I bought it, Memento was the only one that was leaking. Since I had to clean it up anyway, might as well give it a try, right?
Memento is a nice neutral-pink color. Like a lot of people has mentioned before, just a little goes a long way. Since I heard they were incredibly pigmented, I kept using it in small amounts so it would avoid bleeding. I used a brush and even after washing the brush, it definitely stained it!
I thought that this color would wash out my skin, which is why I normally avoid pinks, but I think this does not really wash it out. Although it seems kind of glossy, it is actually semi-matte after it sets. If you like your lip colors glossy, you should definitely put a clear gloss over it.Overall, I like this color. I think one tube is going to last me a while. Memento wore about 6 hours on me with minimal fading even with eating and drinking.I was surprised at the staying power! There is a minty scent to it, but I do not mind it much because I like minty-lip products. The thing that I did not like about it was the leaking issue, and it does get drying after a while, so putting on some lip balm from time to time helps. What do you think about Lip Tars? Tried them? Like them? :)
