NYC City Proof Twistable: Gramercy Park Plum (031)

Swatches & Review

For 2014, NYC has a new collection of lip products called the City Proof Twistables. I was super excited because I love lip products that come like a chubby stick/lip crayon. When I first saw the display, I grabbed a bunch, but I ended up only purchasing two of them since they are supposed to be permanent so I am in no rush to get it. One of the colors I purchased was Gramercy Park Plum.

The plastic packaging of these have colors that coordinate with the shade itself. Like the name of this, these are twistable so no sharpening is required.

The product itself is shrink-wrapped, so you would definitely be able to tell if the item has been opened or not before buying it.

When applied, the color is pretty true to color to how it looks like in the tube. After I purchased this, I realized it was a bit brighter than when I saw it in the store because of the lighting, but it is a nice pink berry, but not very plum-my to me. This was very pigmented & applied smoothly and evenly. It is kind of glossy, so the product does transfer. I also noticed that there was slight feathering around my lips after a few hours of wearing it, so I would recommend using a clear liner with it. There is also a sweet scent with this, which really reminds me of Rimmel London's Kate Moss lipsticks that come int he black tubes. I'm not really a fan of the scent, but it does fade away after applying. This wore for about four hours on me and it faded into a slight even stain on my lips. I still have one more to try that I haven't yet, but I do like how pigmented these are.

The suggested retail price of this is $2.99, but this retails for $3.99 at all locations for me and has 0.07 oz of product. I purchased mine at K-Mart, but these can also be found at CVS and Rite Aid locations.

What do you think about jumbo lip pencils/chubby sticks? Which is your favorite brand for lip crayons like these?

NYC Blushable Creme Stick: Big Apple Blush

Swatches & Review

Big Apple Blush is a pink creme blush. Although the name says Big "Apple", it is not much of an apple shade, but a lot pinker (almost like the inside of strawberries). It has a semi-matte finish, so it is not completely matte. It has a subtle sheen to it, but unlike Berry New Yorker, this does not have shimmer in it compared to Berry New Yorker. After using Berry New Yorker for a while, I finally decided to start using another one of the NYC creme blushes that I purchased. As of now, I believe they're still available at some Dollar Tree stores since I saw some this past week. The application of the Big Apple Blush is incredibly smooth. I thought the Berry New Yorker one had a smooth application, but this is way smoother & it blends a lot easier to me. When I first apply it, it looks like it can be a harsh pink, but after blending it out, it is a very wearable pink, which I like!

Compared to Berry New Yorker.

If you have a chance to still get this blush, I totally recommend it. The only downside to me is the smell. It smells like lipsticks that my mom used to buy when I was 5, which is kind of gross, but the scent does not transfer onto your skin after applying it. When compared to Berry New Yorker, this is definitely a brighter color, whereas Berry New Yorker is more brown-ish. What are your thoughts on the NYC Creme Blushes?

NYC Blushable Creme Stick: Berry New Yorker

Swatches & Review

So yesterday, I decided to drop by Dollar Tree since I heard about NYC's Blushable Creme Sticks being there. Since I have been wanting to try and it has been discontinued, I decided to just drop by and picked up three in Berry New Yorker, Big Apple Blush & South St. Seashell. I have not tried them all yet, but I just tried Berry New Yorker this morning.
Berry New Yorker is a berry-brown-ish color with subtle shimmer in it. When I read reviews for this, many people stated that this was a matte color. When I blended it out, I noticed a bit of shimmer so I was kind of surprised. It is not noticeable, which is good because I am not too big on shimmery blushes. Usually when I use cream blushes, they feel really creamy and sometimes oily, but when I tried to blend this blush out, it blended out smoothly and did not feel super creamy at all. It dried fast after putting it on, but it was still blend-able after a few minutes of it on. When I blended it, it actually felt a bit like powder, which is not bad! I have worn it since this morning on my cheeks and I still see it on my cheeks. It is not as intense as when I first put it on, but it is still lasting me! :)
Overall, I really like this. When I blended the color out, it looked really natural on my cheeks. I think a little goes a long way because just one swipe on your cheeks already gives a lot of product. It's even better that it was only $1! If you are thinking about getting it, I recommend you try to get it soon from your local Dollar Tree because they might not be around for any longer! Anyway, have you guys tried this? Love it? Hate it? Let me know!
