Maybelline Dr. Rescue Baby Lips: Berry Soft

Swatches & Review

When NouveauCheap mentioned the new Maybelline Dr. Rescue Baby Lips a few months ago, I was on the lookout for them. About a week and a half ago, my boyfriend found them & helped me pick some up. One of the shades he picked up was Berry Soft, which is the first shade I tried out of the two he picked out. These are different from the regular line of baby lips because these are supposed to be medicated with eucalyptus, menthol, & alcohol.

The Dr. Rescue baby lips are all packaged in white with different word colorings depending on the shade, but the "Baby Lips" is not labeled right onto the tube like their regular ones because it actually peels out for ingredients. It makes it feel kind of cheap &it feels like it would be ugly if it just came off.

From the tube, the color looks like a pink berry.

For the top picture, I am wearing Berry Soft on the top lip and just regular lip balm on the bottom lip to show pigmentation. The bottom picture with Berry Soft on both my lips. The color shows up a bit & is noticeable, but is pretty sheer.

Although it looked more pink from the tube, it looks like a pink-lavender to me when swatched.

What I first noticed from the Dr. Rescue baby lips is that they do not smell sweet like the regular ones. They have a very faint minty smell, but it also smells kind of bitter, which was not nice at all. It had a slight tingly feeling & a cooling sensation, which I liked because I like it whenever I wear lip balms & they are cooling (like Carmex). However, when I tried it on, I did not like the way it sat on my lips because it just felt greasy whenever I rubbed my lips against each other. After wearing it for about an hour, it did not feel moisturizing at all. Instead of moisturizing, it felt like something on my lips that was just sitting there waiting for me to wipe it off, kind of like the feeling after eating some chow mien from Panda Express on the lips just waiting to be wiped off with a napkin. Once I wiped it off, it was fully gone. No stain left behind & no moisturizing feeling at all! I was super disappointed with this because I was hoping it would be more moisturizing than the regular ones since they are supposedly "medicated". I would not recommend these & I am thinking about having my boyfriend return the other one he purchased for me because for about $3.50, I would rather buy 2 Carmex lip balms instead of having these do nothing for my lips. Skip!

Have you tried the new Dr. Rescue Baby Lips? What are your thoughts?

Budget Friendly Fall Lipstick Picks

Swatches

I have not posted in a while because of school, but since I was taking a break from all the homework assignments I have for the weekend, I decided to do a lipstick post for Fall. At first, I was going to mix up all the fall lipstick picks I have, but I decided to do one that's for drugstore lipsticks & I will probably end up doing one for the mid-range brands as well.

(This picture is on my instagram as well)

Revlon Pink Truffle: Creamy neutral pinkish-brown. This is lightweight and moisturizing. Not too cool of a nude for fall. Depending on location, this is sold for $5.50 - $8.99
Rimmel London 107: Berry red with a matte finish. This glided on very smooth on the lips, but has a fruity scent to it. This is sold for $5.00 - $7.50.
Wet n Wild Ravin' Raisin: Dusty purple with a matte finish. This is very pigmented, but is a bit heavy on the lips. This retails for $1.99 at many locations.
Maybelline Color Whisper Berry Ready: Creamy pink berry. This is very pigmented, lightweight & moisturizing. Since it's very creamy & lightweight, it wears out fast so you would need to reapply this throughout the day. It kind of smells like fruity pebbles to me. This is sold for $6.00 - $8.00
Wet n Wild Cinnamon Spice: Matte brick red. Like Ravin' Raisin, this is very pigmented & a bit heavy on the lips, but it is not too uncomfortable. This retails for $1.99 at many locations.
Milani Black Cherry: Creamy deep red. This applies a bit patchy and it has a strong fruity scent to it. I blot the first layer so the second layer will not be as patchy & exfoliating the lips before applying is also recommended. This is sold for $5.49 - $6.49.

What do you think about these lipsticks from my picks? What are your picks for Fall? :)

Too Faced La Creme Lip Cream: Loganberry

Swatches & Review

I have always wanted to try Too Faced's La Creme lip color, but I never had the chance to get it. When I found a good deal on it, I was able to purchase two of them to try. Loganberry is described as a berry pink from Too Faced.

The lipstick is packaged in a metallic golden tube, however, it is not a super-shiny finish to the packaging, which means that it does not attract fingerprints. It's taller than most lipsticks, but feel a bit slimmer at the same time.

Although Loganberry is described as a berry pink, I thought that it looked more like a berry red-pink, with the red being more visible when swatched & worn. Usually, I feel like berry colors are more for the fall & winter season, but Too Faced came out with their berry line for Spring & I can definitely see why. This berry shade feels like it can be worn year round! For my swatches, I used one swipe and it was super pigmented! It was very soft and lightweight, which made it feel comfortable on the lips. The downside to these are that because they are very lightweight, they wear off easily. When eating, I find that I would have to reapply right after because there would be nothing left by the time I was done. When worn without eating, it lasts about 3 hours before it fades away, so these are not long-wearing at all. I also found that these need to be applied carefully with not too much pressure because they are really soft, or else, it would break apart easily.

Overall, I like the color and I love how it feels very light on the lips, but because it is very soft and wears off easily, I kind of have mixed feelings about these. You would use a lot more product from all the re-applying you would have to do with these & it isn't always convenient considering they would melt easily if you were to carry these around out. I would get these if I find deals on these, but I probably would not pay full-priced out of pocket for these. The Too Faced La Creme Lip Cream's retail for $21 and can be purchased on TooFaced.com, Sephora (Online & In-store) & Ulta (Online & In-store).

What do you think about Too Faced's La Creme Lip Cream? Have you tried any? Which are your favorites?

Milani Color Statement Lipstick: Uptown Mauve

Swatches & Review

This year, Milani has released a new line of their lipsticks called the Color Statement Lipsticks. Their lipsticks have a variety of colors, as well as finishes, such as cream, matte, vinyl, and metallic. Uptown Mauve is one of the lipsticks with a cream finish.

Milani's Color Statement Lipsticks are packaged in a golden plastic tube. I like how the bottom of the lipstick has the color of what the lipstick color itself would be, which makes it easy to pick out the color that you want.

Uptown Mauve is a creamy berry shade. I have tried some of their lipsticks for a while and what I like about Uptown Mauve is that it is one of the creamiest ones that I have tried from their new lipstick line. Normally, berry shades would be kind of dark, but Uptown Mauve seems like it is a berry that would be perfect to use all year-round. The lipstick scent has definitely improved since their older line of lipsticks, but the scent is one of the things that I do not like because it is a very strong fruity scent. Another thing that I do not like is that the plastic packaging attracts fingerprints like crazy! I feel like after I use it, I have to wipe it down with a microfiber cloth so that it will look nice and new again. For me, Uptown Mauve was creamy, applied without tugging and long-lasting. I applied it with one swipe and it was super pigmented. It lasted about four hours for me with some drinking in between and it left a stain on my lips until I wiped it off with makeup remover.

What do you think about Milani's Color Statement Lipsticks? Have you tried any of their new lipsticks? Which shades are your favorite?

L’Oreal Colour Caresse Wet Shine Stain: Berry Persistent

Swatches & Review

When I was shopping at Ulta over a week ago, I saw a full display of L'Oreal's new Caresse Wet Shine Stains. Since I heard some good things about these, I decided to purchase one to try for myself. I have been loving purple for lips lately, I picked up Berry Persistent.
The applicator is a tear-drop shaped doe-foot applicator. It is kind of thin as well.
The first layer of Berry Persistent applied sheer, but it is build-able. I used thin layers to build up the color. By the third layer, it is a gorgeous berry color.
Since I used three layers to try it, it felt kind of heavy and uncomfortable on the lips. After an hour of wearing, the color started being uneven.

These Caresse Wet Shine Stain's are supposed to leave a stain afterward, which made me think of stains from Revlon's Balm Stain, but for me, these did not stain too much on me. The feeling of these are kind of interesting. When applying, they feel very wet/watery, but they do not bleed. After a while, it starts to dry a bit, but it has not fully dried on me (I have tried it on for 6 hours), so whenever I have my lips together, the color starts to look uneven.

Overall, I thought these were okay. They had a very strong artificial fruit scent that lasted through wearing, which really bugged me since I am sensitive to scents. The tube is golden plastic, and attracts a lot of fingerprints, which is also something that I do not like. The color itself is very pretty though. It reminds me of MAC's Rebel (which I do not own), and Wet n Wild's Sugar Plum Fairy, but in a super shiny finish. When I purchased this, I thought it would be more purple since the tube shows it as more of a purple, but it is a berry shade on the lips. I probably would not buy this again since I do not like the scent and I would not recommend this for people who do not like very strong scents.
On lips compared to color in tube.

What do you think about the L'oreal Caresse Wet Shine Stains? Are there any colors you are interested in?
